Objectives and Methodologies
The professional qualified in Environmental Engineering will present a solid knowledge regarding: (i) environmental quality assessment of water, soil and air; (ii) the prevention, assessment and pollution control of the different environmental compartments; (iii) treatment technologies for water, wastewater, soil, and air; (iv) solid waste management (e.g. collection, transport, landfilling, recycling and valorization); (v) project elaboration, exploration and evaluation for water and wastewater treatment systems, waste management, environmental impact assessment, and environmental management systems.
The Environmental Engineer student will know the basic principles of the natural environment, of the different ecosystems and of their interactions. Develop knowledge about the different techniques for the environmental quality assessment and the impacts caused by the different pollution sources. Acquire competences to solve environmental problems, in particular in the prevention, evaluation and control of pollution which can affect the different environmental compartments. Acquire skills in specific areas, such as in the design and operation of environmental systems for: waste management, water treatment and supply systems, drainage systems and wastewater treatment, soil remediation, gaseous effluents treatment and air quality control.
